"Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:" (Revelation 3:17)
This is a Scripture many of us in the Western world should take to heart. How many of us are trusting in wealth, success and power to protect us? Yet even with these material blessings, God's Word is clear that we are spiritually unrighteous, poor and naked where it truly matters - we fail miserably in our righteous standing before our Holy God.
"Our Father in Heaven, for the sake of your glory and our eternal souls, may we see ourselves as you see us. May we compare ourselves not to each other, but to Your righteous standard. May we see our desperate need for the Saviour Jesus Christ. I ask this in Jesus' Name. Amen."
