24/06/2008 - God's Holiness

"Fear ye not me? saith the LORD: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it?" (Jeremiah 5:22)

Today, you often hear that God is love. Yes, God is love but let us not forget that God is also holy. This means separate, perfect, without blemish and without sin. When the LORD appeared unto Moses in the Old Testament, it was as all consuming fire in our fallen and unrighteous world. For a good reminder of the holiness of God, watch this little video and part two. It truly is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God (Hebrews 10:31).

"Lord, help us to fear You as we should. Bring us back to a reverence for Your holy Name and for Your glory. I ask this in the Name of our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen."
