Sin and Judgment

"It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God." (Hebrews 10:31)

Its a topic not often discussed today, yet one of great importance.

The Bible tells us that God is holy and He will judge sin.

"For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee." (Psalm 5:4)

Sin brings shame to God's glory and is also very destructive. In our world, the Lord has poured out countless blessings that are not sinful. God has given us marriage between a man and a woman and within a marriage, the Lord has put His blessing on intimacy. However, the world has perverted this blessing and people are given over to pornography, fornication, homosexuality, adultery and other acts which God has warned are sinful.

The Bible warns sin will bring God's judgment both in this world and after death. We see this happen throughout the Old Testament, where God's warnings were ignored and He brought a fatal and final judgment. It happened in the days of Noah, in the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah as well as in Egypt when Moses was before Pharaoh.

"And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the LORD, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding." (Job 28:28)

Yet by bringing judgment, God could be ministering His grace and calling us to turn back to Him before something worse happens.

In Malachi 3:6, the Bible says God never changes. Today, He is calling us to repentance and pointing us to His Son.

"The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:9)

The good news is that salvation is found in Jesus Christ. It is in Christ where we are reconciled with God, forgiven for our sins and receive eternal life. God brings us out of a life of sin into a loving personal and eternal fellowship with Himself.

"I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture." (John 10:9)

Praise God!
